UV Lamps

Primarc UV lamps are manufactured for an extensive range of medium-pressure mercury arc lamps suitable for all known UV curing systems. Offering outstanding performance, the lamps provide exceptionally good service life and consistent UV output. Primarc UV curing lamps are used world-wide for curing inks and coatings in the printing, packaging and labeling industries as well as in a wide range of industrial applications, including fiber optic cable production, wood products and electronics.

All Primarc UV curing lamps are manufactured from high-clarity vitreous silica, commonly called quartz. Quartz has the property of high transparency to ultraviolet light, particularly at the shortwave end of the spectrum where more than 90% of the UV energy generated is transmitted through the quartz. The electrode components are manufactured using the highest-quality materials, ensuring long and reliable lamp life.

The Primarc Quality Standard not only ensures that each lamp is manufactured to the most stringent specifications, but also that lamp performance is consistent over time.

Metal Halide Lamps

In addition to its broad range of medium pressure mercury arc lamps, Primarc is continuously developing a series of spectrally-enhanced metal halide versions.

Metal halide lamps are mercury vapor lamps with metal halide additives that create specific wavelengths of ultraviolet radiation to precision-match the photo-initiator being cured. The addition of metal halides shifts the spectral output of a standard lamp, producing longer wavelengths. These longer wavelengths provide greater depth of cure, making them particularly useful in curing pigmented and thicker coatings.

Metal halide lamps increasingly are used in the printing industry as well as in a wide variety of industrial applications, such as the production of printed circuit boards, electronic components, fiber optic cables, CDs, DVDs and wood products.

Microwave Lamps / Bulbs

Primarc electrode-less bulbs are designed and manufactured as direct replacement lamps, and to meet the specific needs of original equipment manufacturers worldwide.

In addition to its extensive range of electrode arc lamps, Primarc offers an in-house developed electrode-less microwave bulb for use in industries such as fiber optic coating, electronics, compact disc and DVD manufacture, plastic container decorating, liquid finishing, two-piece can manufacture, graphic arts and general industrial applications.

The standard bulb has a mercury/gas fill. However, as with Primarc electrode lamps, the spectral distribution can be modified by adding specific metal halides.

Metal halide lamps are mercury vapor lamps with metal halide additives which create specific wavelengths of ultraviolet radiation to precisely match the photo-initiator being cured. The addition of metal halides creates a shift in the lamp's spectral output, producing longer wavelengths. These longer wavelengths enable greater depth of cure, making them particularly useful for curing pigmented and thicker coatings.

Primarc electrodeless microwave bulbs are manufactured from high-clarity vitreous silica, commonly called quartz. Quartz is highly transparent to ultraviolet light, particularly at the short-wave end of the spectrum where it transmits more than 90% of the lamp's UV energy .

The Primarc Quality Standard ensures that each lamp is manufactured to the most stringent specifications, and that its performance is consistent over time.

Spectral distribution can be modified by the addition of certain metal halides; contact us for more information about this.

Label Lamps

Primarc UV Technology has developed an extensive range of Label Curing lamps. From our comprehensive variety, we can provide lamps suitable for most systems including Gallus, GEW, Ko-Pack, Mark Andy, Nilpeter and Sanjo.

Our policy of continuous research and development sees this range grow daily. In addition, we can design a lamp to meet a customer’s specific requirements.

Although the most popular lamp types have traditionally been mercury, Primarc have an increasingly wide range of metal halide versions that have been developed in line with the trend toward using a varied spectrum of UV curable coatings and inks in the label printing process. The addition of metal halides creates a shift in the spectral output of a standard lamp, producing longer wavelengths. These longer wavelengths enable a greater depth of cure to be achieved, making them particularly useful in the curing of pigmented and thicker coatings.

Primarc label-curing lamps are hand-crafted from the finest materials available. Each piece of quartz is monitored for size and specification from the first stage of manufacture through to testing packing. Components are manufactured using the highest-quality materials, ensuring long and reliable lamp life.

The Primarc Quality Standard ensures not only that each lamp is manufactured to the most stringent specifications, but also that lamp performance is consistent over time.

Not only can you rely on our lamps, but you can rely on our company and our outstanding service to support you when you need it. Our knowledgeable sales staff is always on hand to offer advice and assistance, and is backed up by our Technical Department's recognized experts.

Cooling Tubes

In addition to manufacturing an extensive range of ultraviolet curing lamps, we also produce and supply high-quality replacement quartz cooling tubes for both water-cooled and air-cooled systems.

Cooling tubes are designed to filter out infrared radiation, and are mounted between the UV lamp and the substrate. Using cooling tubes on lamp heads for drying ink between the application of different colors offers a major advantage: minimal heat on the substrate will minimize registration difficulties. And filtering out IR radiation also ensures that the machine never gets too hot.

The use of cooling tubes is particularly valuable when printing on heat-sensitive and lightweight substrates such as plastic, foil and film. Requiring minimal maintenance, cooling tubes need only to be kept clean to maximize their performance.

Keeping the tubes clean is straightforward, as there is normally no air extraction over the tubes to introduce contamination. The tubes can be maintained in peak condition by occasionally cleaning them with a soft cotton cloth moistened with isopropanol. In order to maintain the purity of the tubes, only deionized water should be used in water-filtered systems.

We supply competitively priced custom-made cooling tubes for almost all known UV drying systems. Please contact us directly for further details.
